Handicrafts

Wadi al Ma'awil is famous for some handicrafts and different traditional industries. The most famous of these industries: Omani Khanjar, silverware industry , pottery industry and Al-Mandoos industry. The craftsmen inherited these from their parents and grandparents long ago and they still practice them in the present time. The Public Authority for Craft Industries appreciates the work of artisan and gives them more attention and encourages 
them by providing them with technical support.

My village

Is a journey into the heart of wadi Al-Ma'awil, one of the beautiful and peace-loving towns of Sultanate of Oman. It features by different trees and many tourism sites. And this blog to know About wadi Al-Ma'awil more clearly and what it hides of different archaeological sites..

Falaj Al-Hadeeth is one of the largest Falajs in Wadi Al-Ma'awil,. Its source of water under the  Western Hajar Mountains, which separate between governorate of Al-Dakhiliyah and governorate of south Al-Batinah. And extends about 20 kilometers. Also it's a kinds that not exposed to drought despite the lack of rain water where in winter the water is warm and cool in the summer.

In Wadi Alma'awil appearance many poets, writers, scientists, intellectuals and social figures. It includes many of literary discussions and global events for the exchange of science and knowledge among them

Among the most famous poets and scholars:
Sheikh/ Mohammed bin Amir Almaawali Author of two books (Civility in writing instruments and wills the provisions of that) and (Polite in the statutes), Mohammed bin shamas Albahri (author of Fulk Almashhoon), and scholar sheikh/ Ali bin hamed Alnibi (famous for his sharia and grammar studies). In addition Sheikh/ Saleh bin soud Almaawali, late writer and leader/ Mohammed bin Rashid Almaawali, poet/ Nasser bin salem Almaawali, late Sheikh/ Saif bin Abdulaziz Alrawahi, And others.

Al Khandaq House

Al Khandaq house is one of the known archaeological house, which remains a witness to the creativity of Omani architecture since long time ago, and it was built around 1851. Where it accumulates the elders, visitors and residents in the past. It features a main the door entrance of the old inscriptions and the house featured the old urban character, geometric shapes and the beauty of ancient architecture. It's today surrounded by farms and homes, and is visited by a number of tourists and lovers of photography

The Fanas Tree


The state is famous for a unique tree (Al Fanas) which grows in one of the villages of the state. it is one of the rare trees in the Sultanate which was brought from Zanzibar almost two centuries. It reaches a height of about 19 meters. And its fruit is of a large size and looks like a pumpkin, and tastes like honey. Its flowers are tall. This tree bear fruit at the beginning of the month of June, Where fruits appear in the trunk of the tree. Al Munzif spring




Al Munzif spring is one of the sulfur springs in Wadi Alma'awil which Spread in bottom of the Western Hagar Mountains in Batinah South Governorate. Al Munzif spring is one of the therapeutic  spring and longer addition to being  also it has been used in 
agriculture , industry, construction and others purposes .



 The spring is a sort of  a group of small pits scattered in the valley in the form of Basins accumulate by water, but there is less water in the period of summer because of low rainfall and high temperature. People used water in the treatment of some skin diseases such as pimples, allergies and etc. The water has some characteristics in changing silver's color in bracelets in to a golden color to a period of time and then it goes back to the normal.                         








Al Ghasham House




AlGsham House is one of monumental houses in the state, and are called AlGsham due  to its owner who was known by that nikname, Mr. Mohammed bin Ahmed bin Nasser Al Busaidi AlGsham (a 
Minister Alsultan Timor bin Faisal).


Designed the house was designed on the old Omani architectural style; the inscriptions abound on the doors and windows and graffiti. According to historical sources, the construction period returned to the reign of Mr. Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi .

The house was re-restored in 2012 and continued until 2014. Also some of the facilities were added to house for the sale of gifts, traditional and archaeological artifacts, where they are outfitted in the coming period as a museum and special library to increase the tourism of the state.  Cultural events will be held to make the place culturally attractive.





Al Safalah fort

Alsafalah fort is taken as a slogan of wadi Alma'awil state, for being one of historic castles in the region. This is found in one of Alwilaya villages. Where it is believed to be belonged to the year (950) AD, according to the 
indicators that resulted from the examination of construction materials.


The castle is surrounded by six circular defensive towers which are associated with each by high walls. The castle containing archaeological houses, a mosque and a Quran School




The castle was restored during the reign of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, where the restoration project began in November of 2007) and continued until (2009).







Location



Wadi Alma'awil is located in South of Al-Batinah. It is away from
 the Muscat governorate about 115 km. It is considered as a gateway for some states of South Al-Batinah , Al-dharah and some villages. and States of Al-dakhliyah which are Located on northern mountains and foothills of those states, such as Jabil Alakhdar and Jabil Shams. This is  through the road to and from Muscat across this state because of its good geographical location.
